Google New Pixel Watch 3 Debuts with Enhanced Safety Features

Pixel Watch 3

Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) introduced its latest smartwatch, the new Pixel Watch 3, during the Made by Google event at its Mountain View, California headquarters on Tuesday. The new smartwatch will be available for purchase starting September 10.

Pixel Watch 3: Advanced Safety Features

The Pixel Watch 3 includes a groundbreaking feature called Loss of Pulse Detection. This safety measure aims to provide life-saving assistance by notifying emergency contacts and authorities if the watch can no longer detect the wearer’s pulse. This could be crucial in situations such as cardiac arrest, circulatory failure, overdose, or poisoning.

If the watch detects a loss of pulse, it first warns the user with an alert. If the user does not respond, the watch will automatically contact emergency services, sound an alarm, and display a warning message to those nearby. Currently certified for use in some European countries, Google is working on expanding this feature to other regions.

Improved Design and Functionality

Alongside its safety features, the Pixel Watch 3 offers several design upgrades. The new model includes a larger 45-millimeter size option, in addition to the existing 41-millimeter version, and features reduced bezels for enhanced screen visibility. The displays are brighter and feature an adjustable refresh rate of up to 1 frame per second to conserve battery life, which Google estimates will last 24 hours, extending up to 35 hours with Battery Saver mode.

Enhanced Fitness and Health Tracking

The Pixel Watch 3 continues to integrate Fitbit’s exercise-tracking technology, now including premium features like the Readiness Score at no extra cost. This feature assesses your heart rate and workout history to recommend whether you should exercise or rest. New running features include customizable routines and split settings, while a daily morning brief provides insights on sleep, health metrics, and weather forecasts upon waking.
